Position Title: Firefighter

Start Date: To be determined 

Job Type: Full-Time position 24/48 Schedule 

Salary: TBD (Certification level Based) plus state incentive when 400 Hrs. Certified

General Statement of Duties:  

Engages directly in firefighting and fire prevention activities to protect and safeguard lives, property, and environment. Firefighters assist in maintenance and repair of fire stations and equipment. A firefighter is responsible for maintaining assigned fire apparatus and assisting in maintaining apparatus readiness by performing daily checks and minor repairs/ preventative maintenance on apparatus.

A firefighter conducts activities in emergency and non-emergency situations.  A firefighter assists the supervisor in carrying out day to day actions. 


Firefighter should display or be able to attain the following characteristics: 

-Thorough knowledge of firefighting tactics 

-Thorough knowledge of street system, physical layout of district, and locations of fire hydrants. 

-Ability to operate equipment such as fire engine pumper, aerial truck, pumps, and other equipment. 

-Ability to respond quickly to changing situations under emergency pressure. 

-Ability to administer emergency treatment to injured persons. 

-Ability to perform strenuous work and carry out duties under adverse conditions. 

-Ability to understand and follow oral instructions quickly and under emergency conditions. 

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees and general public. 

-Skill and dexterity in the operation of fire equipment and in the light maintenance of fire equipment. 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Application  

Prior to Hire

21 years of age 

Valid Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record 

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of FF level 1

CPAT card required per KY Fire Commission 

Post Hire

Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification within 2 years IFSAC

Minimum of Emergency medical responder prior to completion of 1 year probationary period. Ability to perform the essential physical and mechanical functions as outlined in the Firefighter job description.

-Submit a complete resume and application packet by deadline April 24, 2018 at 1600 hrs. to Russellville Fire Dept. Attn. Chief Scot Celsor 

-Complete all of the physical fitness/ practical skills evaluations. (Date to be determined)  -Interview Process 

-Pass pre-employment fit-for-duty physical, drug screening and police records check 

-Probationary position with conversion to permanent upon successful completion of training and certification.
